Wanted: Sculpture's history
This sculpture is in the back yard of a home at 16th Avenue and Main Street. I don't know much about its history, except that it once sat on the campus of St.-Mary's's-of-the-Woods College. Many in the all-female student body expressed their discomfort with the sculpture, despite its creator being a woman. I have no idea how it came to be in Beech Grove. Can anyone shed some light on this mystery?

The current owners name is doug. Hes not sure too much about it either. Its been there for the thirty years ive been alive and will forever be a mystery.
ReplyDeletePossibly because they used to take in unwed mothers (pregnant teens) and this looks somewhat like the torso of a pregnant woman. Just a thought...
